August 07, 2013 04:48 PM | General
Preseason officially kicked off today for the West Virginia University women’s soccer team. The Mountaineers had their first training session this morning, and the team returned to Dreamswork Field this afternoon for its second session.
Throughout camp, the Mountaineers will have two on-field training sessions a day, along with strength and conditioning workouts and individual and team meetings.
This year’s preseason includes two exhibitions: against Rutgers on Aug. 13 at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium and at Georgetown on Aug. 17. The Mountaineers will kick off against the Scarlet Knights at 1 p.m., and admission is free for fans.
The Mountaineers, led by 18th-year coach Nikki Izzo-Brown, return nine starters from a 2012 team that won the Big 12 Conference regular-season championship and compiled an 11-5-4 record, including a 7-0-1 showing in conference action.
