MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 29 West Virginia University cross country team begins its 2013 season this Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Lehigh Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
The invitational will take place on the Goodman Cross Country Course at Lehigh University, with the women’s 6k beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The Mountaineers, who were chosen No. 29 in the National Preseason Coaches Poll and fifth in the Mid-Atlantic Region Preseason rankings, will be running their seventh season under the direction of head coach Sean Cleary.
“This will be a very good opportunity for this group to start positioning themselves to be chosen for the Big 12 team,” says Cleary, who is in his 22nd season on the West Virginia staff. “I am excited to see how our summer preparations have gone.
“This meet is a nice chance for the rest of the team to get on the course that we will be running on for the NCAA Regionals in November.”
