MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Mountaineer freshman Kadeisha Buchanan traveled with Team Canada to Copenhagen, Denmark, for a 12-day camp in preparation for the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
Team Canada participated in three friendly matches while in Denmark, finishing with an undefeated 2-0-1 mark.
Buchanan saw playing time in all three matches, starting each at center-back.
In the first match, Canada came away with a 6-1 victory over local professional team, Ballerup Skovlunde. Nichelle Prince and Ashley Moreira both tallied two goals apiece, while Katie Kraeutner and Jade Kovacevic each added one.
Canada continued its success in Denmark with a 1-0 victory over a highly-rated Norwegian team. Krauetner tallied her second goal of the trip and goal keeper Kailen Sheridan came up with a crucial save on a penalty kick late in the match.
“It was a great to get the win against a top-class opponent while also staying true to the football we want to play,” said coach Andrew Olivieri.
The squad wrapped up its friendly schedule in Copenhagen against the home country, Denmark. The match ended in a 1-1 tie, with Ashley Campbell tallying Canada’s goal.
