MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The WVU men’s soccer team has added to the 2013 recruiting class as coach Marlon LeBlanc has announced the addition of Jack Elliott.
"We are very pleased to add a student-athlete of Jack’s quality,” LeBlanc says. “He is an excellent addition and we expect that he will compete immediately for a spot at the center back position.”
A native of Norbury, London, England, Elliott is a defender for coach Andy Parkinson at Old Wilsonians Football Club while attending Wilson’s School.
At Wilson’s School, Elliott was the top goal scorer for the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons, as well as leading the team to a 20-2-2 record as team captain. During Elliott’s career, the team has won four District Cup championships and has been a three-time runner up in the County Cup.
“He is very technical, an intelligent player with and without the ball, he possesses good speed, and at 6-3, he has the physical tools to be a top level player,” LeBlanc adds.
With Old Wilsonians Football Club, Elliott is the youngest member on the first team and has helped the team to an 8-4-4 record thus far in 2012-13. He has played in 14 matches, starting 10.
WVU previously added Nick Anello (Freehold, N.J.), Brent Arnold (Landisville, Pa.), Christian Diaz (Houston, Texas), Mike Desiderio (Media, Pa.), Jack Driscoll (Virginia Beach, Va.), Thomas Farrell (West Keansburg, N.J.), Lee Johnston (Newberry, Fla./Pitt), Alex Ochoa (Pasadena, Texas) and Kyle Richards (Loganville, Ga.).
West Virginia finished the 2012 season with a 9-6-2 record, 4-2-1 in Mid-American Conference play. The Mountaineers advanced to the MAC Tournament and returns 14 letterwinners next season.
