Rifle Ranks No. 5

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team ranks No. 5 in the first regular-season College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll of 2013-14.
Jacksonville State ranks No. 1. Kentucky and Alaska-Fairbanks rank No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, while TCU ranks No. 4.
Ohio State ranks No. 6, followed by Memphis, Army, Nebraska and Air Force.
The Mountaineers (1-0) opened the season with a 4657-4648 win against then-No. 10 OSU on Oct. 5, at the WVU Rifle Range. Junior Maren Prediger shot a career-best 599 air rifle, while sophomore Garret Spurgeon paced the Mountaineers in smallbore and finished second with a 581.
