MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Four West Virginia University student-athletes were named to the College Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) All-Academic Team.
“It’s always nice to see student-athletes recognized for their academic achievements,” says sixth-year Mountaineer coach Jon Hammond. “We put an equal emphasis on success in the range and in the classroom, and I’m proud of the whole team’s efforts.”
Three-time first team National Rifle Association (NRA) All-American Petra Zublasing leads the way with her second career honor. The award caps off a memorable season for the junior, as she won the NCAA air rifle title and was named the Great American Rifle Conference (GARC) Shooter of the Year in addition to air rifle and combined score conference victories.
Junior Chance Cover, redshirt-freshman Thomas Kyanko and freshman Meelis Kiisk all scored their first career honors.
Hammond’s teams have earned 33 citations since his arrival in 2006. Eighty-eight Mountaineers have earned the honor since it was first awarded in 1991.
