Rifle Drops to No. 2

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following five weeks at the top, the West Virginia University rifle team dropped to No. 2 in today’s Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) Poll.
The Mountaineers’ (7-0, 4-0 GARC) ranking is based on their team score of 4697, shot in a win over No. 13 NC State (4596) on Nov. 11.
Despite WVU shooting an NCAA-record 4720 on Nov. 9, TCU claimed the No. 1 ranking by virtue of its 4708 score shot in its victory at the Ohio State Invitational on Nov. 12.
Kentucky is tied with the Mountaineers at No. 2; the Wildcats shot a 4697 score on Nov. 10. Alaska-Fairbanks and Jacksonville State hold steady at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Nebraska and Air Force are tied at No. 6, while Army is ranked No. 8, Nevada is No. 9 and Ole Miss is No. 10.
Today’s rankings are based on each team’s most-recent score.
The Mountaineers close out their fall season with two matches at Alaska-Fairbanks on Nov. 17-18, inside the E.F. Horton Rifle Range.
