The West Virginia University men’s basketball team started the last leg of its trip to Italy by arriving in Venice Tuesday morning.
The Mountaineers had a 5 a.m. wakeup call, departed the hotel at 6:30 a.m. in Rome and arrived in Venice around 10:30 a.m. from their flight from Rome. The travel party checked into its hotel and spent the rest of the day exploring this unique city.
On Wednesday, the Mountaineers will take a sightseeing tour in the morning before heading to Aviano Air Force Base. West Virginia and Illinois will spend Wednesday at Aviano Air Force Base in Venice providing entertainment to the members of the military.
The entertainment activities include a basketball clinic for children of the military, grades sixth and under, a showcase of skills from the student-athletes with a dunk show and a scrimmage opportunity between student-athletes and select military personnel. A basketball exhibition consisting of two 10-minute halves between WVU and Illinois will close out the day.
The Mountaineers round out the trip with games Friday and Saturday.
