MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Kara Blosser, a 5-8 midfielder who played two seasons at NC State, has enrolled at West Virginia University announced women’s soccer coach Nikki Izzo-Brown today.
“We are excited about the addition of Kara to the West Virginia family," says coach Izzo-Brown. “She is a very versatile player who has great experience playing in the ACC. She is a great fit to our team and can help us win championships.”
Blosser helped NC State to 15 victories over the past two seasons, appearing in 37 matches, starting 35. Last season, she scored seven points on three goals, including two game-winners and one assist. She attempted a team-best 64 shots, good enough for ninth in the ACC.
A Spotsylvania, Va., native, Blosser was named to the ACC all-Freshman Team in 2009. She led NC State in scoring with 20 points and nine goals – the most by a Wolfpack freshman in 20 years. She finished her rookie season with two multi-goal efforts and was named to the ACC all-Academic Team.
The Mountaineers graduated six seniors from their 2010 BIG EAST championship team, which posted a record of 18-5-1. West Virginia begins the 2011 season on Aug. 19 at Virginia.
