The Mountaineers are on the air – in the summertime, too! Beginning this Saturday, June 4, and continuing for 13 additional Saturdays throughout the summer, the Mountaineer Sports Network (MSN) will be airing an edited two-hour replay of each West Virginia University football game from the 2010 season, plus a special replay of the 2008 Fiesta Bowl victory over Oklahoma.
“It’s a great way to create some interest and excitement heading into the 2011 football season, while also offering some additional programming for our MSN affiliates,” says WVU Deputy Director of Athletics Mike Parsons, who also doubles as executive producer of the Mountaineer Sports Network. “A lot of stations are looking for programming at this time of the year.”
A tentative lineup of stations covering most of the major markets in the state will be airing the rebroadcasts, including: Buckhannon (WBUC-AM), Charleston (WCHS-AM), Clarksburg (WAJR-FM), Elkins (WELK-FM), Keyser (WKLP-AM), Logan (WVOW-AM/FM), Morgantown (WAJR-AM) and Summersville (WSWW-FM).
Additional stations may be added to the lineup throughout the summer. Airtimes for all rebroadcasts are 12:06 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Check local listings for time changes.
The final rebroadcast will air on Saturday, Sept. 3, with West Virginia taking on Oklahoma in the 2008 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.
The real season begins a day later on Sunday, Sept. 4, when the Mountaineers play host to Marshall in the 2011 season opener at Milan Puskar Stadium.
