GETTING A LOOK

Dana Holgorsen likes to throw the football. Jeff Casteel runs a 3-3-5 stack defense. Both run unusual systems which means both units are going up against the exception instead of the norm. But right now, Holgorsen is not that concerned about getting the typical looks his offense will need to prepare for the season.
“We’re trying to manufacture the looks we need, but that’s football,” said Holgorsen after Monday’s practice. “You look at any program across the country and they’re not going to get the looks they need every day based on the fact that college football, especially in the spring, there are not enough bodies to go around to develop scout teams and all the rest.”
Holgorsen said there is still plenty of time to give his offense the four-down look that Marshall will give them in fall’s opener.
“We’re going to face teams with four down linemen, which we’ve seen zero snaps, but that doesn’t concern me now as much,” he said. “What concerns me now is just the speed of the game and learning what to do and playing football from a technique aspect more than worrying about whether or not we get a four-down look today.”
The same goes for defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel, whose defense has not gone up against a tight end, the option or the power running game the Mountaineers will face next fall.

Practice No. 11 takes place Wednesday morning.
