Jay's Connecticut Keys
March 02, 2011 11:26 AM | General
MSN radio basketball analyst Jay Jacobs reveals his five keys for West Virginia during its game Wednesday night against 16th-ranked Connecticut at the WVU Coliseum:
1. Don’t let Kemba Walker get open looks at the basket
2. Be read for Connecticut’s press and attack it
3. No quick shots in the half court; make Connecticut guard them
4. West Virginia needs team scoring – not individual scoring
5. Transition offense – get some easy baskets in transition
NOTES
1. Kemba Walker is the key to Connecticut. He has seven career 30-point games and is averaging 22.8 points per game this season
2. Connecticut is an up-tempo team that likes to push the ball in transition
3. Connecticut is a good shot blocking team – West Virginia must utilize the pump fake as much as possible when the Mountaineers get the ball inside
4. Make Kemba Walker shoot jump shots and not drive to the basket; Walker will shoot where you think he won’t
5. No quick transition baskets from Connecticut
