MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team is set to host California (Pa.) on Sunday, Feb. 20, in an 11 a.m., match at the Ridgeview Racquet Club.
“California (Pa.) is a top Division-II program and we’re not going to take them lightly,” says coach Tina Samara. “Our team is really looking to build on the win that we had earlier this week against Pitt.”
The Mountaineers have a regular season record of 2-5, while going 1-1 in BIG EAST action. The Vulcans currently hold a record of 4-1 after defeated George Washington in today’s match.

Sophomore Emily Mathis and freshman Melis Tanik led the Mountaineers with wins in their respective singles and doubles matches.
Mathis clinched the win for West Virginia with a hard-hitting, third-set victory over Pitt’s Gabrielle Catanzariti,1-6, 6-2, 6-4, in the No. 2 singles spot.
