Track: WVU to Compete at Kent State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team is set to compete at the Doug Raymond Invitational hosted by Kent State on Saturday, Jan. 15, in Kent, Ohio.
Action will be begin at 10 a.m., and will feature several schools from the East Coast including BIG EAST foe Pitt.
The Mountaineers enter this weekend after an excellent showing at the Penn State Relays last weekend. Senior Chelsea Carrier led the way and was named BIG EAST Female Track Athlete of the Week for her efforts.
The Buckhannon, W.Va., native ran a BIG EAST season-best time of 8.33 to win the 60-meter hurdles. The result also stands as the second-best time nationally in the event and qualified Carrier for the conference championships.
Carrier also captured first place in the long jump with a BIG EAST qualifying distance of 5.56 meters.
West Virginia’s mile relay team of Jordan Hamric, Aubrey Moskal, Hallie Portner and Sarah Martinelli also raced well as it placed first with a time of 21:11.07.
