MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Senior Liz Repella was named to the BIG EAST weekly honor roll after leading West Virginia to a pair of league victories last week, allowing the Mountaineers to stretch their undefeated streak to 16 games.
Repella averaged 17.5 points per game on 58.3 percent shooting (14-of-24). She hit three-straight 3-pointers over the course of 70 seconds in the first half of the 67-46 win at Seton Hall to start the week. The 3-point shots were part of a run that allowed the Mountaineers to pull away from a 5-5 tie and never look back. Repella finished the game with a season-high 24 points, along with eight rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal.
The guard came out three nights later to put up a career-high five blocks and collect 11 points against Cincinnati. Her blocks contributed to a team-total 17 blocks, the third-most in a game in program history. She totaled five assists, eight blocks and three steals for the week.
The honor is the second weekly honor Repella has received this season. The Mountaineers remain at No. 6 this week in the Associated Press poll and will face Marquette at the Al McGuire Center, Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 8 p.m., EST.
