MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Each week throughout the 2010 season, MSNsportsNET.com will get to know the six freshmen on the West Virginia women’s soccer team. Today’s edition features forward Katie Lenz.
What attracted you to play soccer at West Virginia University?
I really liked the whole atmosphere and the tradition of the program. I wanted to play against the best competition so I could become a better player.
Who has had the biggest influence on your soccer career?
My parents because they have supported me through everything and spent countless hours taking me to all of my games and practices. And my club coach because he really helped me develop as a player and always pushed me to become better.
Of the teams not on your schedule, whom would you like to play most?
Clemson because one of my best friends plays there and it would be cool to play against her.
How did you spend your summer?
Basically hanging out with my friends and working out to get ready for the season.
Tell us why Mountaineer fans should turn out to see the women’s soccer team play this year.
Because it’s a great atmosphere. Especially when you’re playing at home it makes the game a lot more exciting when there is a big crowd to support us.
