Swimming: Two Compete in Summer Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Seniors George Farquhar and Caroline Larsson of the West Virginia University swimming and diving team participated in their respective countries’ summer swimming championships last week.
Farquhar swam in the 2010 Telstra Australian Short Course Championships which took place July 14-18 in his hometown of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
The 2010 BIG EAST Champion in the 100 breast swam in the 50 meter breast, 100 meter breast and 200 meter breast, where he was able to have second swims in all the events. Farquhar took fifth in the 50 breast (28.06), 10th in the 100 breast (1:01.64) and 11th in 200 breast (2:14.07).
A native of Trelleborg, Sweden, Larsson swam at the 2010 Swedish Swimming Championships on July 14-18 in Malmo, Sweden, held in a long course pool.
Larsson swam to a seventh-place finish in the 800 meter free (9:27.99), 10th in the 1500 meter free (18:14.26) and 23rd in the 400 meter IM (5:20.66).
