MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Graduate assistant and former Mountaineer standout swimmer, Pablo Marmolejo, earned a bronze medal for Mexico at the Mayaguez 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
A native of Mexico City, Mexico, Marmolejo earned the medal with his third-place finish in the 100 meter fly (54.83). Marmolejo currently holds the Mexican record for the event with his time of 52.48 at the 2009 World Championships in Rome, Italy.
Marmolejo returns to action on Thursday, July 22, swimming in the 50 meter fly, his final event.
The Central American and Carribean Games are held every four years and are the oldest continuing regional games in the world. Only the Olympics have run longer.
