MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - With its two wins over Villanova this weekend and Louisville’s sweep of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind., the West Virginia baseball team enters next week’s BIG EAST Baseball tournament as the No. 8 seed.
The tournament is set to begin on Wednesday, May 26 at 10 a.m. at Bright House Field in Clearwater, Fla., and will run through Sunday, when the championship game will be played at noon.
The Mountaineers (27-28) will face the No. 1 seed Louisville (46-10) in their first tournament game on Wednesday, May 26 at 5 p.m.
The first game of the day will feature No. 6-seed Rutgers (28-24) against No. 3-seed Pitt (37-16) at 10 a.m. No. 7-seed Cincinnati (29-27) will face No. 2-seed Connecticut (43-12) at 1 p.m., and No. 5-seed USF (25-30) will play No. 4-seed St. John’s (36-18) in the final game of the day at 8 p.m.
If the Mountaineers win, they will face the winner of USF and St. John’s on Thursday, May 27, at 8 p.m. If WVU loses to Louisville, they will face the loser between USF and St. John’s at 5 p.m.
