Track: WVU to Compete at Saint Francis

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University track and field team will continue action this weekend with a trip to the Saint Francis Father Bede Hines Invitational on Saturday, April 24, at DeGol Field in Loretto, Pa.
Field events are scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m., while the first track events are scheduled for 11 a.m.
Last weekend, the Mountaineers finished second at the James Madison Invitational. The Dukes placed first with 168.5 points, while the Mountaineers followed in second (142 points), Robert Morris finished third (125 points), William & Mary finished fourth (101.5 points) and George Mason finished fifth (77 points).
WVU started the day sweeping the 800-meter run as senior Keri Bland came in first with a time of 2:08.00, junior Jessica O’Connell finished in second (2:10.53) and Heather Saffel placed third (2:28.53).
Freshman Sydney Cummings also had a strong showing, finishing first in the high jump and clearing a season-best height of 1.70 meters.
This is the last meet the Mountaineers will compete in before heading to the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships on April 30-May 2, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
