MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s soccer team will play host to Robert Morris on Sunday, April 18, in the Mountaineers’ final home spring match. Action at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium is set to begin at 5 p.m.
Admission to the match is free.
Through three matches, the Mountaineers are 1-0-2. WVU tied Crystal Palace Baltimore, 1-1, on March 20. Last weekend, WVU played Akron to a scoreless draw on April 10. The squad earned its first spring win the next day, a 1-0 decision over Slippery Rock on April 11. Freshman Nathan Adams tallied the lone goal of the contest. Coach Marlon LeBlanc, however, was not content with the team’s performance in either of the two matches.
"This week's focus is kind of getting back to where we were before we went on spring break,” LeBlanc says. “I like where this team is at and where we're progressing to, and like I said, the results don't matter; it's about getting better. Fortunately, we have been able to accomplish both."
The Colonials, who went 3-14-3 in 2009, were led by the play of freshman goalkeeper Toba Bolaji. The netminder ranked 14th nationally in save percentage and 50th in goals-against average.
