MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team will play host to non-conference foe Coastal Carolina on Tuesday, March 16, in a 10 a.m. match at the Ridgeview Racquet Club.
“Coastal Carolina comes in on a hot streak, so it looks like we could be in for another long match,” says coach Marc Walters. “We have to step up in both singles and doubles this week to have a chance in this match.”
WVU now holds a regular season record of 11-2, 4-0 in the BIG EAST, after Sunday’s victory over California (Pa.) in a 4-3 match at the Ridgeview Racquet Club.
The Mountaineers started the match by capturing the doubles point as they defeated the Vulcans in the No. 1 and 2 spots. Both teams fought hard in the singles competition, but WVU came out on top after winning three of the six matches to bring it to a 4-3 advantage.
The Chanticleers also defeated the Vulcans, 4-3, on Sunday, bringing their regular season record to 11-1.
