MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 2-ranked West Virginia University rifle team will host an intrasquad match on Friday, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m. at the WVU Rifle Range.
The exhibition match will pit two Mountaineers against each other in 40-shot relays.
“This is a great training tool for our team and also allows everyone to shoot in a different setting,” says coach Jon Hammond. “There will be music in the range and spectators sitting right behind the line, allowing the team to enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere in one of their final practices before the postseason begins.”
Mountaineer fans will be permitted to sit inside the range during the exhibition and can follow the shooters shot-by-shot with the aide of a projection screen. Additionally, following the match, spectators will be afforded an opportunity to meet with the national champion Mountaineers, who will be available for questions and will offer an in-depth explanation of the sport.
WVU concludes its home season next Saturday, Feb. 13, and will play host to Nebraska at 8 a.m. at the range. The match will serve as an NCAA qualifier for both squads.
