Track: WVU Ranked No. 2 in Mid-Atlantic Region

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team received a No. 2 ranking in the Mid-Atlantic region announced today by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Penn State leads the poll at No.1, while Georgetown, Villanova and Princeton close out the top five.
In the national poll, Villanova is No. 9, Penn State is No. 10 and Georgetown is ranked No. 24.
WVU is set to travel to New York City this weekend to compete in the BIG EAST Indoor Championships. The Mountaineers will have 20 student-athletes competing, including junior Chelsea Carrier who has posted solid performances throughout the season.
Last weekend at the Gold-Blue Meet at the WVU Shell Building, Carrier, a Buckhannon, W.Va., native, recorded personal-best showings in the long jump (6.10 meters) and in the 60-meter dash (7.60).
