Women's Basketball: Up to No. 11 in AP Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University’s women’s basketball team moved up five spots to No. 11 in the latest edition of the Associated Press Top 25 poll, released today, receiving 593 points.
The ranking ties the 1991-92 and 2007-08 teams for the highest Associated Press ranking in school history.
WVU is one of five BIG EAST teams ranked in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 as it joins No. 1 Connecticut, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 18 Georgetown and No. 25 St. John’s in the rankings.
West Virginia (20-2, 7-1) is now tied for the best 22-game start in school history, with the 1991-92 squad, after its 72-66 victory over Louisville.
West Virginia returns to action Tuesday, Feb. 2, at 7:00 p.m., when it takes on No. 1/1 Connecticut (21-0, 8-0) at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. The contest will air on West Virginia PBS (channel 699 in Morgantown; channel 10 in harleston/Huntington; channel 203 in Clarksburg/Wheeling/Weirton; and channel 209 in Martinsburg) and will also air on MSN women’s basketball affiliated stations with play-by-play announcer Travis Jones on the call.
