Rifle: Kyanko Takes Silver Medal

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University freshman Thomas Kyanko shot 687.7 and won the Silver medal in the Junior Men’s 10m Air Rifle, yesterday, at the 2010 USA Shooting Winter Air Gun Championship in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The Wellsburg, W.Va., native shot 586 in the open relay and 101.7 in the finals for his medal-earning aggregate score. Additionally, his relay score was good enough for 22nd place in the open competition.
Sophomore Petra Zublasing also enjoyed a successful day, as she shot a perfect 400 and finished as the top collegiate shooter in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle. Additionally, senior Nicco Campriani shot the top collegiate score in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle for the second straight day with a 597 mark.
Former Mountaineer Bryant Wallizer placed in the top eight in the men’s division, shooting 591 in the open relay and 100.1 in the final for a seventh place, 691.1 aggregate total.
All three Mountaineer shooters shot unattached.
