Track: WVU Track to Open Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team is set to begin its 2010-11 season with the WVU Holiday Classic on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Shell Building.
Field events will start at 9 a.m., with the running events to follow at 10 a.m., and continue on a rolling schedule. Schools competing include Alderson-Broaddus, Duquesne, Glenville State, Juniata, Lake Erie Community College, Mountain State, Washington & Jefferson, Waynesburg, Wheeling Jesuit and West Virginia Wesleyan.
The Mountaineers return six of eight All-America student-athletes this season, including Chelsea Carrier, the reigning Mid-Atlantic Field Athlete of the Year.
WVU also finished the 2009-10 season listed at No. 5 on the Terry Crawford Program of the Year Award list, given to the top programs in terms of finishes in track and field, cross country and academics.
