MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Team Turkey defeated Team Indian in the 2010 version of the West Virginia gymnastics Turkey-Indian intrasquad meet, held Wednesday, Nov. 17, in Cary Gym.
The Mountaineer coaching staff was very pleased with the overall effort of both squads, saying that the teams had great attitudes and that enthusiasm was high in the gym. With only six weeks standing between the Mountaineers and their 2011 season opener, yesterday’s intrasquad allowed the staff to see where the team’s strengths lay and which events need more work.
Individually, potential all-arounders Amy Bieski and Hope Sloanhoffer were strong on all four events, while senior Naja Johnson, returning from a season-ending ACL injury, had a successful day on the uneven bars with a hit performance.
The Mountaineers will play host to their annual Gold-Blue intrasquad meet on Friday, Dec. 10, at the WVU Coliseum, at 7:30 p.m.
