Men's Soccer: BIG EAST Tournament Field Set

BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP BRACKETMORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia men’s soccer team has earned home field advantage in the first round of the 2010 BIG EAST Championship, earning the No. 4 seed in the Blue Division. The Mountaineers will host the No. 5 seed in the Red Division, USF, on Wednesday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m., at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
The BIG EAST Championship features a 12-team field with Georgetown and Louisville as the No. 1 seeds. The Red Division is represented by No. 2 Cincinnati, No. 3 St. John’s, No. 4 Villanova, No. 5 USF and No. 6 DePaul. The Blue Division has Notre Dame and Connecticut still battling for the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, No. 4 West Virginia, No. 5 Providence and No. 6 Marquette.
The higher seed will have the home field advantage in the first round and quarterfinals, while the semifinals and final will be at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J.
West Virginia finished the regular season with a 9-6-2 record, including a 5-4-0 mark in BIG EAST play. WVU most recently lost to Providence on Saturday afternoon by a score of 1-0.
USF finished the regular season with a 9-4-4 record overall and a 4-3-2 record in BIG EAST action. USF drew the No. 5 seed after a coin flip with Villanova in which Villanova won. Most recently, USF lost at St. John’s, 2-0, on Saturday evening.
Earlier in the season these two teams squared off in Tampa, Fla., with USF earning a 1-0 victory over the Mountaineers. Andrew Mittoo scored for the Bulls after a WVU defensive lapse.
Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $3 for youth and senior citizens. Groups of 10 or more will be charged $2 per person. USF and West Virginia students are admitted free with a valid student ID.
