Men's Soccer: WVU Travels to Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The West Virginia men’s soccer team will close out the regular season with a BIG EAST Conference match at Providence on Saturday, Oct. 30, at 1 p.m. The match will be held at Glay Field.
West Virginia is coming off a 3-0 shutout over Marquette last Wednesday evening. Junior Franck Tayou scored two goals and had one assist, while sophomore Shadow Sebele scored a goal and was credited with an assist.
The Mountaineers are now 9-5-2 overall and 5-3-0 in the conference and currently sit in fourth place in the Blue Division of the BIG EAST standings.
Providence is led by coach Chaka Daley who is in his 11th year at the helm. Matt Marcin leads the team in scoring with four goals and two assists for ten points. Wilder Arboleda and Marc Cintron each have eight points apiece.
“They’ve got players who can absolutely hurt you,” coach Marlon LeBlanc said. “They’re smart players and they’re always a very organized team.”
The Friars last defeated Seton Hall, 2-1, on Wednesday evening. Andrew Sousa scored both goals for Providence’s third-straight victory. Providence is now 8-5-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the BIG EAST.
The Mountaineers have already clinched home field for a first-round game in the BIG EAST Championship.
