MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia jumped six spots in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Poll and five spots in the Associated Press Poll, released today.
The 5-1 Mountaineers are now 19th in the coaches’ poll and 20th in the AP poll following Thursday night’s 20-6 win over South Florida in Morgantown. Upset losses by Oregon State, Air Force, Nevada and Florida allowed West Virginia to move up in this week’s rankings.
This is the sixth week West Virginia has made an appearance in both polls this season; WVU was not in the rankings in weeks four and five after a 20-14 loss at No. 6 LSU.
West Virginia continues play at home this Saturday, facing 4-2 Syracuse in a noon homecoming game that will be televised nationally on ESPN2.
There are a limited number of tickets remaining and can be purchased by calling the Mountaineer Ticket Office toll-free at 1-800-WVU GAME or by logging on to WVUGAME.com.
