Hammond, a native of Aberdeen, Scotland, combined with Neil Stirton for the Team Scotland victory. The duo finished with a combined total of 1181, and Stirton paced the pair with an individual score of 592 (97, 99, 98, 100, 100, 98). Hammond shot 589 (99, 99, 97, 100, 98, 96).
England finished second with a score of 1178, while Australia placed third and shot a combined score of 1174.
The team medal is the second in five days for Hammond and Stirton, as the pair won the Bronze in the men’s pairs 50m rifle 3 position on Oct. 8. Additionally, the duo was able to edge Team England after narrowly falling in “x” counts, 2308 (105x) – 2308 (104x), in the pairs 3 position competition.
Today’s medal is the third of the games for Hammond. The fifth-year Mountaineer coach also won Silver in the men’s 50m rifle 3 position on Oct. 9.
Shooting for a medals sweep, Hammond concludes his time at the Commonwealth Games with the men’s 50m rifle prone tomorrow.
