The day started at 12 a.m. for most of the team for the New Year, but after a couple hours of sleep we were refreshed for our 10 a.m. practice. We woke up to overcast skies and rain, but sure enough practice still went as scheduled. At practice we did the long course version of the “rocket set,” a set designed to test mid-distance pacing.
After practice the team went to a restaurant to watch and cheer on our fellow Mountaineers in the Gator Bowl. Unfortunately the football team lost the game, but none the less we still enjoyed cheering them on. After the game had finished the team took naps to prepare for the evening practice. We went to practice again and as we arrived we got to watch the sunset. After it was dark the wind started to pick up and it was cold. The team finished practice, then took the rest of the night to focus and prepare to race against Louisville the next day.
