Volunteer Assistant
Belle, W.Va., native Mehgan Morris enters her first season as a volunteer assistant with the West Virginia University gymnastics team.
Excellent in all areas of the sport, Morris adds many years of national experience to the coaching staff. Especially talented on the uneven bars, Morris’ extensive knowledge will help the Mountaineer specialists.
One of the most decorated gymnasts in Mountaineer history, Morris completed her four year WVU career at the 2009 NCAA National Championship, competing as an all-arounder and finishing 18th in the championship’s first preliminary session.
Morris’ numbers rank among the program’s best, as she finished her WVU career with 1,623.975 points, the 12th best Mountaineer mark. Additionally, she scored 15 39.0-plus scores throughout her career, including eight-straight in her final season, the fifth best program total. Morris’ final two seasons with the Mountaineers were the most outstanding, as she scored 515.575 points in 2008 and 469.1 points in 2009, WVU’s 10th and 34th best season point totals, respectively.
The 2009 East Atlantic Gymnastics League Outstanding Senior Gymnast earned five conference titles in two years: bars and floor in 2008, and bars floor and all-around in 2009. She became only the second Mountaineer to win three titles at one EAGL Championship. An 11-time all-EAGL performer, Morris opened her Mountaineer career winning the 2006 EAGL Rookie of the Year award.
Morris is currently completing her marketing degree. She resides in Morgantown.
