MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University men's soccer players Jason Bristol and Eric Schoenle were named to the UNC Wilmington all-Tournament team today.
The Mountaineers, who did not lose a match in the tournament, allowed only one goal in two contests.
A Franklin, Tenn., native, Bristol played all 220 minutes on the back line, and tallied one shot through that span. The senior defender was a dominant force in the air and on set pieces – offensively and defensively.
Schoenle, a Neshaminy, Pa., native, also played 220 minutes on the back line for the Mountaineers. The freshman recorded a shot on-goal against Appalachian State in the 1-1 double-overtime draw. Much like Bristol, the 6-foot-4-inch Schoenle was a crucial piece on the defense for headers, as well as starting counter-attacks with precise long balls.
WVU returns to action on Sept. 18, when it opens BIG EAST action at Louisville. Kickoff at Cardinal Park is set for 6:30 p.m. ET.
