MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women’s soccer team opens preseason camp Friday morning, Aug. 7, at the WVU soccer practice field.
“I’m looking forward to a great preseason camp,” says coach Nikki Izzo-Brown. “We are coming off a very productive spring season and I hope to carry that momentum into these workouts. We have a big freshmen class and there is a lot of work to do before our season opener in 16 days.”
The Mountaineers begin camp with on-field training twice a day, strength and conditioning workouts and film sessions. West Virginia will continue its preparation leading up to the regular season home opener against Ohio State on Sunday, Aug. 23.
WVU will take part in one exhibition game, scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, at home against Maryland.
The Mountaineers return five starters this season as they begin defense of their BIG EAST American Division title. Izzo-Brown begins her 14th season in charge of the Mountaineers and has led her teams to nine straight NCAA tournament appearances.
