Track: Carrier and Rotilio Highlight Day Two

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Four members of the West Virginia University track and field team advanced to the finals in their respective events today as WVU completed the second day of competition at the ECAC Championships in Princeton, N.J.
Chelsea Carrier won the 100-meter hurdle semifinal race in 13.45, while April Rotilio posted a lifetime best and finished third in the 400-meter trial with a time of 54.23 to advance to the finals.
“Today was a great day for the team,” comments Coach Sean Cleary. “Both April and Chelsea had great performances and we are looking forward to another exciting day tomorrow.”
In the 1,500-meter race, Karly Hamric and Jessica O’Connell both posted NCAA Regional qualifying times to advance. Hamric finished fourth with a time of 4:23.21 followed by O’Connell who placed seventh (4:26.30).
In the field events, Alex Acker finished eighth in the pole vault event after clearing 3.65-meters.
After two days of competition, WVU is currently 11th with 10.25 points. Virginia leads the pack with 37 points followed by Cornell (22) and William and Mary (21).
