MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa., to compete in the Penn Relays on April 23-24. The Mountaineers will compete in the 4x100 and 4x400 relay events, the high jump, the 100-meter hurdles and the 3,000-meter race.
“Our main objective this weekend is to go to the Penn Relays and better our relay times and our overall performance,” comments Coach Sean Cleary. “We are bringing a small group of athletes this year as the rest of the team will remain in Morgantown and train for the BIG EAST Championships.”
Sophomore Chelsea Carrier will run the 100-meter hurdles, while Jessica O’Connell will compete in the 3,000-meter event. High jumpers Natasha Redman and Katelyn Williams will look to improve their heights.
Last year, Williams won the college division high jump at the Penn Relays, while the 4x400 relay team placed 33rd with a time of 3:47.61.
