MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men’s soccer team will close out its spring schedule with a pair of home contests at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium. The Mountaineers will play host to Virginia Military Institute on Saturday, April 18, at 3 p.m. and then follow that with another 3 p.m. contest on Sunday against Slippery Rock.
Admission to both matches is free and open to the public.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and league first team member Zach Johnson and All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention selection Gift Maworere return to lead the team. The squad will also have freshmen sensations Raymon Gaddis and Alex Silva back on the pitch.
The Mountaineers had one of the best defenses in the nation, holding opponents to a 0.64 goals against average, 12th-best nationally. The squad wrapped up the 2008 campaign with a 5-9-5 overall record and a 3-4-4 mark in the BIG EAST.
