MORGANTOWN, W.Va.- West Virginia University baseball coach Greg Van Zant has announced today the hiring of Tad Reida as assistant coach.
“We are happy to have Tad as a member of our coaching staff,” Van Zant said. “He’s a very talented, hard-working person, and is a great addition to our team.”
Reida is spending his first season at WVU working with all hitters as well as the infielders. The Kokomo, Ind., native will contribute heavily in the team’s recruiting efforts, and is also the team’s first-base coach.
Reida spent two seasons at Wichita State of the Missouri Valley Conference. He played a key role in 2005 when he helped lead the Shockers to the NCAA Championship Game in the Knoxville Regional. He also played at Indiana University, and graduated from IU with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sport Marketing and Management in July 2008.
As a standout athlete from Western High School, Reida was selected in the 50th round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Philadelphia Phillies during his senior season.
“I’m proud to be a part of Mountaineer baseball,” Reida said. “I want to thank Coach Van Zant for giving me the opportunity. I will continue to work hard and help WVU compete for a championship.”
