MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore Meghan Mock led the Mountaineers today as she met BIG EAST qualifying standards in the long jump at the WVU Holiday Classic at the WVU Shell Building.
Mock met BIG EAST standards with a first-place finish at 5.58-meters, after narrowly missing qualification for last season’s conference indoor championships.
“After struggling to qualify for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships last winter, I am very proud of the commitment that Meghan made this fall to put herself in the situation that she is in,” coach Sean Cleary says. “I was pleased with all aspects of the program today. With our fall training completed, this was a nice break for the girls before finals.”
A total of six members of the West Virginia University track and field team met BIG EAST qualifying standards today.
Seniors Marie-Louise Asselin, April Rotilio, Natasha Redman, junior Chelsea Carrier, Mock and freshman Sydney Cummings all garnered BIG EAST qualifying standards in their respective event.
Rotilio led the Mountaineers today with a first-place finish in the 200-meter, as she posted a BIG EAST qualifying time of 24.98. The Bellaire, Ohio, native also took first in the 55-meter with a time of 7.11, while junior Chelsea Carrier followed in second with a time of 7.17. Both were BIG EAST qualifying times.

Also competing well today was freshman Arielle Gaither who took first in the 500-meter with a time of 1:21.63. In the mile, WVU took the top three spots as senior Jaime Cokely finished in first (5:29.39) and sophomores Jennifer Sirockman and Lauren Moskal finished in second (5:30.03) and third (5:56.17), respectively.
