The biggest story down in Florida is the situation concerning Florida coach Urban Meyer, who announced yesterday that he was stepping down as the Gators’ coach. Today, Meyer has backed off that with ESPN now reporting that Meyer could return to Florida after taking a leave of absence.
West Virginia coach Bill Stewart was asked to comment on Meyer before Sunday’s practice.
“I’ve know Urban since 1990,” Stewart said. “I was at the Air Force Academy and Urban was at Colorado State. There is not a finer gentleman in the game. I don’t care about all of that coaching stuff. All I care about is my friend and buddy and I hope his health is much better than what it has been.
“He is a special guy and we have had about a 20-year relationship and I’m proud of that. I hope everything works out for Urban and his family.”
