Football: Miller Earns Big East Honor

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia defensive end Julian Miller has been named the Big East Defensive Player of the Week, announced today by the conference.
The Columbus, Ohio, native tallied three sacks for a loss of 19 yards in WVU's 17-9 victory over Louisville last Saturday. Miller finished the game with six tackles and a pass breakup.
On the Cardinals' final drive in a one-possession game, Miller posted consecutive sacks on quarterback Will Stein to put UofL in a difficult third and 24 situation at its 44-yard line. Miller earned his first sack of the game on Louisville's first offensive play of the second half, a five-yard loss.
Miller leads the Mountaineers with 8.5 sacks this season, and also shows a team-leading 11.5 TFL's. He ranks 16th nationally in sacks per game and 30th in TFL's per game.
Junior Jock Sanders was added to the conference's weekly honor roll after scoring on an eight-yard touchdown reception and rushing 12 times for 66 yards.
