Rowing: WVU Concludes Fall Season

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team completed its fall season with a bronze medal at the Head of the Occoquan in Blacksburg, Va., on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The varsity open four team ‘A’ boat crossed the line in 19:59.41, behind Duke’s team ‘A’ (19:26.23) and team ‘B’ (19:42.14) boats, earning them the bronze medal for the second year in a row.
The Mountaineers had two more entries in the collegiate 4+ competition with the team ‘B’ boat finishing in 12th place (20:56.10) and team ‘C’ finishing 16th (21.17.01) out of 36 entries.
WVU took eighth and 15th out of 28 competitors in the varsity open eight event, racing within 50 seconds of one another.
In their first competition of the fall season, the novice squad landed three top-15 finishers. The novice four team finished ninth with a time of 24:33:41, while the novice four team ‘B’ boat and the novice eight boat finished in 15th place in their competitions.
