MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University rowing team will compete Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Head of the Mon, in Morgantown.
Racing will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the open eight competition and continue through the afternoon with the open four race at 12:30 p.m. and the small boat races shortly after.
WVU will be competing against George Washington and Dayton.
“After last weekend’s cancellations due to inclement weather, this weekend's racing should afford us a better opportunity to assess our progress approximately one month into the year,” says coach Jimmy King.
The Mountaineers will have two boats in the open eight race, three boats in the open four competition and will be the only team with entries in the small boat race.
Crews will be launching from the WVU rowing facility located at the corner of Donley and Clay Streets in the Waterfront District of Morgantown.
The three-mile course will begin at the bridge in Star City and finish at the amphitheater in Morgantown.
“I'm pleased that our students have this rare opportunity to compete for WVU in front of their friends and the folks who see us training on the Mon' in the early mornings and late afternoons throughout the year,” says King.
Spectators are encouraged to gather at the finish line near the Hazel Ruby McQuain Amphitheater.
