Football: Syracuse Award Winners Announced

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University football coaching staff has named its award winners for outstanding performance in the Syracuse game on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Offensive Champion –Jarrett Brown, Will Johnson, Joe Madsen, Brad Starks and Tyler Urban; Defensive Champion – Sidney Glover, Brandon Hogan, Pat Lazear, Chris Neild, Julian Miller, Robert Sands, Nate Sowers, Keith Tandy, Josh Taylor, J.T. Thomas and Reed Williams; Special Teams Champion – Brandon Hogan, Scott Kozlowski; Offensive Scout Champion – Mike Poitier; Defensive Scout Champion – Taige Redman.
West Virginia (4-1) hosts Marshall (4-2) in the annual “Friends of Coal Bowl” on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
The game will be televised on the BIG EAST Network, carried on ESPN GamePlan and will be streamed live on ESPN360.com.It will be shown in West Virginia on WCHS (Charleston), WOAY (Bluefield), WVFX (Clarksburg), WTOV (Wheeling), WTAP (Parkersburg), WPCW (Pittsburgh), and in Pennsylvania on WJAL (Chambersburg).
This is the ninth meeting all-time between the two schools with West Virginia leading the series, 8-0. The Mountaineers defeated the Thundering Herd, 27-3, last year in Morgantown. This marks the fourth year that the two schools have played for the Friends of Coal Bowl Trophy.
