Volleyball: Mountaineers Head to Winthrop

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University volleyball team continues its season this weekend with a trip to Rock Hill, S.C., for the Hilton Garden Inn Classic at Winthrop.
The Mountaineers (0-3) will open the weekend against tournament host Winthrop (2-1) on Friday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. The Eagles are coming off a successful weekend at the Wake Forest Invite in which they defeated Davidson and Norfolk State. This will be the first meeting between the two teams.
On Saturday, Sept. 6, the Mountaineers will continue play with a match against Morehead State (3-1) at noon. The Eagles are coming off a 3-1 loss to Kentucky in their last match. The Mountaineers hold a 5-3 record over the Eagles.
The Mountaineers will conclude the tournament on Saturday with a match against North Carolina Central at 4:30 p.m. This will be the first meeting between Mountaineers and the Eagles.
Last weekend the Mountaineers went 0-3 at the Colgate Classic in Hamilton, N.Y. Junior outside hitter Kristina Gallahan was named to the all-tournament as she led the Mountaineers in kills with 37.
