Football: Marshall Award Winners Announced

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University coaching staff has named its award winners for outstanding play in the 27-3 win against Marshall this past Saturday in the Friends of Coal Bowl.
Offensive Champion – Mike Dent, Noel Devine; Defensive Champion – Ellis Lankster, Brandon Hogan; Special Teams Champion – Pat McAfee; Offensive Scout Champion – Mike Poitier; Defensive Scout Champion – Lawrence Smith; Special Teams Scout Champion – None; Hammer Award – None.
The Mountaineers (2-2) open up the BIG EAST Conference portion of its schedule this Saturday, Oct. 4, when they welcome Rutgers to Morgantown. The game is scheduled to kickoff at Noon and will be televised by the BIG EAST Network as its game of the week.
The Rutgers game can be seen around the area on WCHS-TV (Charleston), WVFX (Clarksburg), WOAY (Beckley), WTAP (Parkersburg), WTOV (Wheeling), WPCW (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and WJAL (Chambersburg, Pa.).
The 18th annual WVU Sports Hall of Fame induction will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Caperton Indoor Facility beginning at 9:30 a.m. The 2008 class includes Eddie Bartrug (FB/P-HB), Bob Gresham (FB/RB), Roy Lester (FB-E/BB-C/Base-OF), Lowes Moore (BB/G), Dr. Martin Pushkin (T&F, CC - Coach) and James M. Sottile (BB/F).
