MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The West Virginia University tennis team will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., on Sept. 26-28, for the Western Michigan Invitational.
The Mountaineers were originally scheduled to travel to West Point, N.Y., for the Army Invite, but were forced to change plans due to inclement weather.
The Mountaineers will face several tough competitors this weekend including BIG EAST foes Marquette and DePaul. Also competing will be Eastern Michigan, Purdue, Indiana State, Illinois-Chicago and Tennessee Tech.
Junior Olga Elkin captured her second straight title of the season on Sept. 14, as she took first in the Flight ‘B’ draw at the Martha Thorn Invitational. Elkin posted her first title win at the Brevard Invite after defeating Georgia Southern’s Ali Beavers, 6-4, 7-6.
Junior Monique Burton also had a good showing at the Martha Thorn Invite as she came in second behind Elkin. Burton defeated Madeline Majdalani from Duquesne in a hard fought 6-4, 6-3 match, to get to the finals.
