The new video board is a significant improvement to Milan Puskar Stadium. The size and clarity of the video portion of the board is a dramatic upgrade from the previous board, first installed prior to the 2000 season.
The team will be wearing the traditional blue jerseys with gold pants for today’s game against Villanova.
For the first time in 13 years we will be without veteran press box public address announcer Jack Johns who has chosen to retire and enjoy the games without having to identify ball carriers, tacklers and yardage. Johns is also stepping away from his public address duties for women’s basketball as well.
Although the radar is clear in the area the skies are overcast and hazy in Morgantown this afternoon at 1 pm (the sun finally broke through at 1:35 pm). The band will unveil a large American flag during a portion of their pregame performance.
One of the games slated to be on one of the nine television screens in the press box is today’s Michigan-Utah game airing on ESPN2 at 3:30 pm.
The actual kickoff for today’s game against Villanova will be 3:35 pm.
On the right of the video panel is the game clock and team score. To the left is a panel for down, distance, ball placement and quarter.
The ribbon board on the student side of the stadium is working and spans from the 10 to the 10 yard lines. It will have messages and advertisements for today’s game against Villanova. The other ribbon board on the press box side of the stadium will be ready for the Marshall game on Sept. 27.
